I made this week's IF topic "Subtract", into a series. I haven't had a whole lot of time on my hands lately so I just scribbled these drawings onto my favorite type of paper while I laid outside today. I figured, when something is subtracted one place, it's usually added another. So my little alien character Bertle is being subtracted from his clan, and added to a family of an ordinary American couple.

Hahaha, that's just great! Hooray for Bertle! Those human lifeforms seem pretty unperturbed at his presence at the dinner table. Aside from the foreign dinner, all in all, he seems to be having a good time. Love it!

Bertle is special. He bypasses any and all legal matters through his being so popular with any group.

he's not necessarily displeased, but he definitely is thinking of the source of the food. what animal was this...what was it's name...what activities did it enjoy...etc.
I see Bertle packed his bags and ended up on Earth (my condolences, Bertle). Is he some sort of inter-galactic exchange student?
It looks like he has great manners, though. It's uncommon for an alien to ring the doorbell, let alone use cutlery. And I should know, I've had so many space guests over for dinner.*
*They have all been very rude. Nor are they much for conversation.

That's bizarre Garrett, really...Venus? Hilariously appropriate. I think the exchange-student comment is very keen of you. You could consider him a 'student' of Earth I suppose, although he comes here with a far more advanced learning ability. He really has no need to learn of our ways and habits, as his clan have known on human behavior far longer than we want to know. He mainly does what he wants. Reads good literature, etc.
